After a long train journey I arrived in Manchester. I didn’t explore too much of Manchester the first night. I mainly stuck to what I would assume is the large business district and some of the high street.
There are certainly a large amount of large businesses like Nationwide and Co-Op headquartered there.

I continue to love the use of trams in many cities. I always assumed they were fairly rare. It certainly adds to the public transport options.

The second day I headed north to explore the more residential part of Manchester. I ended up finding a canal and following it back to the city centre. There were loads of modern houses alongside. However, the canals could have used a bit of maintenance as some of the locks seemed to leak or didn’t function at all.
The lock below was overflowing due to the one upstream having no seal at all.

I’m struggling to decide whether I prefer Manchester or Birmingham. Both have very a very similar vibe and have lots of technology job opportunities due to large businesses being located there.

(I’m going to stop reporting on food and drink as it is usually some form of meal deal. Plus if I don’t have a hostel to stay at I’m limited in my cooking abilities. Also when I get behind on these posts I can’t remember exactly what I had or how much it cost exactly. The accommodation and travel will also be more interesting)
